I also recently began playing Madden 2006 as well and although this is not a popular game in New Zealand I first played the game in 1993 on the Sega Mega Drive and have joined all the games since. In the superstar mode u missed one of the key things the attributes of the player that you can control are determined by parents genetics and skills and you select a random pairing of parents at the start and this not only determines the players skills but the positions they play. However, I would suggest that the main reason that these new game modes have been created is because of economic goals and to create more reasons to buy the game other then to get better graphics, updated rosters and slightly different gameplay, sports games on the same console between years are effectively the same and therefore new and creative game modes are required to compell players to buy each incarnation rather then simply being because of the amount of time that gamers now spend immersed in games.
