Back story is basically this guy wanted to pay for his university fees in England, so set up a website selling advertising space, each pixel of space costs $1, so a 10 by 10 square costs $100. There's a million pixels on the site, hence the million dollar homepage. So far he's sold $428,000 (US) worth of pixels in just under two months.

I thought it was a really creative idea to get money from spam advertising sites. There's even an advert for 20 cent pixels on his site, and there seems to be quite a lot of copycat sites popping up like http://www.20centpixels.com/ http://www.club-millionaire.com/index.php and http://www.1dollar1pixel.com/. While the site is pretty boring, it's an interesting concept and the blog is slightly interesting to read about how it started by word of mouth then once the press got ahold of it it pretty much went crazy with advertising.
